Men's Tennis Drops Weekend Matches to Georgia and Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – Southern Miss (7-8, 3-3 Sun Belt) men's tennis dropped a pair of matches this weekend as it played No. 38 Georgia (10-11, 3-6 SEC) and Louisiana (11-8, 4-2 Sun Belt).

The Golden Eagles started the weekend in Oxford, Miss. where it met the Bulldogs on a neutral court. Georgia handily took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two, but Pasawee Reansuwong and Shamirul Shahril held a 4-3 lead before going unfinished.

Dakotah Bobo and Henry Lamchinniah each took the first set in their respective matches and had a lead in the second set before going unfinished. Georgia won singles matches on court three, five, and six to secure the match win.

In Sun Belt action on Sunday afternoon, Southern Miss and Louisiana went to a tiebreaker set in all three doubles matches. Shahril and Reansuwong won the first tiebreaker on court three to put Southern Miss in the lead, then Bobo and Lamchinniah clinched the doubles point for the Golden Eagles.

Despite the early lead, Louisiana went on to win four of the six singles matches to complete the comeback win. Olimjon Nabiev and Shahril went unfinished in singles action.

The Golden Eagles return to Hattiesburg next weekend to host Georgia Southern (Saturday) and Georgia State. Southern Miss will honor its seniors prior to Saturday's matcha against the Eagles. Both matches will start at 10 a.m.
