Lee Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss Softball designated player and pitcher Jana Lee was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
"Jana had a great week offensively and in the circle. She has shown good Southern Miss grit after battling an early season injury. I am proud of her fight for her team and determination to help our team succeed," head coach Natalie Poole said.
In her second week returning to the lineup, Lee led the Golden Eagles with eight hits, producing two in each game. The Albany, Ga, native hit three doubles throughout the week and also launched a three-run homer against Marshall on Sunday, her second home run shot of the season. Lee paced the team with a .533 batting average, improving her season average to .350.
Lee also fanned seven batters through three total appearances in the circle last week, and earned her second win of the season on Sunday.
Lee is the first Southern Miss player to earn the Sun Belt's Player of the Week honor and the second Golden Eagle to earn weekly honors in the conference after alumni Morgan Leinstock won Pitcher of the Week last season.
