HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â Southern Miss and Jackson State will meet at Reed Green Coliseum on Monday, Oct. 28 in an exhibition contest that will benefit Extra Table, a statewide nonprofit food bank. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.Â
The game is included in the season ticket packages. All single game tickets will be sold at the normal rate with all net proceeds from those sales going to Extra Table.
The University has benefited from Extra Table as the organization has worked Eagle's Nest since day one, while they were also instrumental in helping Jackson State open its on campus food pantry. Extra Table has played a vital role in the Mississippi college community as nearly 30 percent of students at four-year colleges have reported food insecurity at some point, while over 670,000 Mississippians are food insecure.Â
THE EXTRA TABLE MISSION
Extra Table is a statewide, nonprofit food bank founded by well-known restaurateur Robert St. John in 2009. We fight hunger differently by fundraising to purchase new, healthy, shelf-stable food, which we deliver to our 63 food pantry and soup kitchen partners across Mississippi every month at no cost to them.
