Sun Belt Conference Announces Non-Divisional Football Foes for 2024 Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Sun Belt Conference announced the league's non-divisional 2024 football opponents for its members Thursday morning and Southern Miss will play both James Madison and Marshall to round out the league portion of its schedule.
The Golden Eagles will play host to Marshall and travel to James Madison. The Golden Eagles and Thundering Herd meet for the first time since 2018, while the JMU contest marks the initial contest between the two schools in football.
The 2024 Southern Miss slate will feature Arkansas State, Louisiana, Marshall and South Alabama at home, while going on the road to James Madison, ULM, Texas State and Troy. Dates for these eight contests will be announced later this winter.
The non-conference portion of the schedule shows Southern Miss opening the season at Kentucky (8/31) before playing its home opener against Southeastern Louisiana (9/7). The Golden Eagles then entertain USF (9/14) before finishing up non-conference play at Jacksonville State (9/21).
