Sun Belt Announces MAC-SBC Challenge Opponents for Feb. 10

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss will host Western Michigan in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 10, per a release from the Sun Belt Conference office.
The matchups for the second round were determined by real-time NET Rankings. Southern Miss is 221 in the NET and Western Michigan is 268. Southern Miss played at Akron in the opening round of the challenge on Nov. 10, where it lost 72-54. Georgia State topped the Broncos, 77-70, in their opening game of the challenge on Nov. 11.
The Broncos are 7-11 with a 4-2 record in MAC action. Their wins include Southeastern Louisiana, Mercer, Aquinas, Miami (OH), Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Ohio. They lost 77-66 to Akron on Jan. 16 – the only common opponent with Southern Miss besides Georgia State. Western Michigan will head to Hattiesburg following a game at Kent State on Feb. 6.
