Football Set for First Spring Scrimmage Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss football team continues its spring drills with a Saturday, 9:30 a.m., practice with the team's first big scrimmage of the spring at Robert Stadium.
Golden Eagle fans are invited to attend to watch the free open scrimmage.
The approach to the scrimmage will be simple for third-year coach Will Hall as he expressed his expectations following the team's Thursday practice.
"I like to see clean football," said Hall. "I want to see us block the right people, like we have been doing, I want to see who can tackle and who can break tackles, as well as who can shed blocks. I am not a guy that likes to have a tricky type scrimmage, where we are schematically trying to trick each other. I like for our kids to be able to line up and play. And we see who can play well. "
Hall said that the team will also work through red zone and third-down situations during the scrimmage and that they hoped to get to two-minute drill work as well.
This will be the 10th of 15 scheduled practice sessions for the Golden Eagles this spring. The squad opens its 2023 season, Saturday, Sept., 2 at home against Alcorn State.
