Softball Adds NFCA Second Team All-American to the 2023 Signing Class

HATTIESBURG, Miss.--Â Head softball coach Natalie Poole adds Maddie Weeks to the 2023 signing class.Â
The Golden Eagles' class includes Lauren Lindsey (Mobile, Ala./Jones College), Holly Craft (Raleigh, Miss./Jones College), Kayce Oran Bennett (Watson, La./Live Oak High School), Gisselle Solis (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson High School), Brooklynn White (Maumelle, Ark./Central Arkansas Christian School), Ansley High (Cartersville, Ga./Cass High School) and Emily Chandler (Locust Grove, Ga./Strong Rock Christian School), and now Maddie Weeks (Clinton, Miss./ Co-Lin). Â
The Co-Lin infielder had quite the freshman campaign for the 2022 season as she led the way for Lady Wolves in RBIs (61), tied second-most for a single season. Weeks had the third-most at-bats (147), the fourth-most hits (55), and the third-most doubles on the squad (7). She led Co-Lin in home runs (12) and shared the team lead in triples (6). Weeks finished the season with a batting average of.374, a .456 on-base percentage, and a slugging percentage of .748. She also had the third-most stolen bases (25) on the team.Â
The Mississippi native was selected to the NFCA NJCAA Division II All-South Region team in addition to being a member of the MACCC All-Conference Team and NJCAA All-Region 23 team. She assisted the Lady Wolves in capturing their first conference title since 2009 and helped the program to the top spot in the NJCAA Division II Softball poll.
She has so far accrued seven RBIs, six runs/hits, and one homer for the 2023 season.
