Golden Eagles Travel to Georgia Southern to Open Sun Belt Play

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's basketball team ends its four-game road trip at Georgia Southern (0-12, 0-0 Sun Belt) on Saturday afternoon as it opens Sun Belt Conference play in Statesboro, Ga. The Golden Eagles (6-6, 0-0 Sun Belt) and Eagles tip-off from Hanner Fieldhouse at 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

The Golden Eagles headed into the Christmas break sporting a 6-6 record through 12 non-conference games. They'll play one more against a MAC opponent in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 10. Southern Miss picked up wins over William Carey, Xavier (La.), Milwaukee, UAB, Northwestern State and Lamar in that stretch. Southern Miss is coming off a 17-point loss to No. 25 Ole Miss on Dec. 23 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Cobie Montgomery went for 15 points on a career-high three made triples.

KEY GOLDEN EAGLE STORYLINES
- Andre Curbelo, Victor Hart, Victor Iwuakor and Montgomery all scored in double figures against Ole Miss
- Hart picked up the third double-double of his career with 13 points and 11 rebounds against the Rebels
- Post players Tegra Izay (9) and Victor Iwuakor (8) combined for 17 rebounds and 16 points against Lamar
