Crowley Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss junior guard Austin Crowley averaged a league-leading 23.5 points per game on the opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play. He is the Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Crowley turned in a pair of double-figure scoring efforts in wins against Troy and App State, including a career-high 30 points in the victory against the Mountaineers. Crowley shot at a 61.5 percent (16-of-26) efficiency for the weekend.
In addition to leading the conference in scoring last weekend, Crowley also averaged a league-best 2.5 steals over the two-game stretch. His 30 points vs. App State are the most in a Sun Belt Conference game so far this season.
In the win against Troy on Thursday night, Crowley scored 17 points, brought down six rebounds and came up with five steals. He shot 50 percent (6-of-12) from the field against the Trojans in 36 minutes of action.
In the App State victory, Crowley made 10-of-14 (.714) from the field, including connecting on four three-pointers, en route to his career-high 30 points. He also brought down five rebounds and dished out four assists. Crowley played 37 minutes against the Mountaineers.
Crowley has now scored in double figures in each of his last six games for the Golden Eagles, who are 13-2 overall and 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.
