HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss football players, offensive tackle Tykeem Doss (Aliceville, Ala.), linebacker Santrell Latham (Meridian, Miss.) and defensive lineman Dominic Quewon (Minneapolis, Minn.), will all participate in postseason all-star games later this month.
Both Doss and Quewon will play in the Tropical Bowl, which takes place Saturday, Jan. 21, at Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, Fla., starting at 3 p.m. CT., while Latham plays in the Hula Bowl this Saturday, Jan. 14, in an 11 a.m. CT contest at FBC Mortgage Stadium on the campus of UCF in Orlando.
Doss appeared in 34 contests over his three-year Golden Eagle career, which included 22 starts. He helped Southern Miss reach its first bowl game since the 2019 season and first postseason win since 2016, blocking in front of Frank Gore, Jr., who established an FBS Bowl and school-record 329 rushing yards in a 38-24 LendingTree Bowl victory over Rice.
Latham played for the Golden Eagles for five seasons, seeing action in 56 career games with 36 starts. He posted 246 career tackles with 28.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks. He also added an interception, five pass breakups, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He finished his career by earning third-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors. He also was a two-time Conference USA honorable mention pick.
Quewon played in 30 games over his three-year Golden Eagle career and was a regular in the opponents' backfield. He put together a career total of 43 tackles, which consisted of 16 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. Ten of those sacks came this season as he was among the nation's leaders in that category. He also added his lone career interception this season against South Alabama and added a pass breakup and four forced fumbles during his Southern Miss tenure.
The trio join Jason Brownlee (NFLPA Collegiate Bowl) and Eric Scott, Jr. (East-West Shrine Game) to play in postseason all-star games. The five Golden Eagle total is the most in one season to attend all-star games since sending that many in 1992.
