
Southern Miss Football is Truly Mississippi Made

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Led by its head coach Will Hall from Amory in Monroe County, the Southern Miss football team is truly Mississippi Made.
Fifty-two cities and 37 counties account for the 76 different Golden Eagles off the 115-person roster that hail from the Magnolia State. That represents 66 percent of the roster that attend college and play football in their home state.
In fact, 65 percent of the current two-deep heading into the team's season opener against Liberty, as the two teams square off at 6 p.m., this Saturday from M.M. Roberts Stadium.
The cities of Hattiesburg, Madison and Oxford have the most Golden Eagle players in which they call home at four apiece.
The combination of Forrest and Lamar counties have the most Golden Eagles with eight players, to go along with Madison County. The breakdown from Forrest/Lamar is one player from Petal, one from Hattiesburg High School and three each from Oak Grove and Purvis High Schools.
