Ray Guy Award Announces Ray’s 8 for Week Three Games including Southern Miss’ Mason Hunt

Augusta, Ga. – The Augusta Sports Council and the Ray Guy Award announce Ray's 8 for week three games, including Southern Miss senior punter Mason Hunt (Wiggins, Miss.). The following Ray's 8 punters are eligible to be named the Punter of the Week for week three games announced tomorrow, Tuesday, September 20th at 10 a.m. ET.
Along with Hunt, the other honorees included Adam Korsak of Rutgers, Kai Kroeger of South Carolina, Lachlan Wilson of Tulsa, Michael Turk of Oklahoma, Nik Constantinou of Texas A&M, Peter Moore of Virginia Tech and Tory Taylor of Iowa.
Hunt punted four times for a 44.3 yard per punt average Saturday versus Northwestern State in a 64-10 victory. His punts were 35 (fair caught at the opposition 18), 53 (rolled to the NSU 6), 42 (downed at the Demons 11) and 42 yards (downed at the NSU 2).

About the Ray Guy Award
The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thompson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner is net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team's success.
