Ty Keyes Shines in Saturday Morning Practice

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Second-year Southern Miss football coach Will Hall gushed about the play of redshirt freshman quarterback Ty Keyes following the team's workout Saturday morning.
"Ty Keyes had an unbelievable practice," said Hall, after walking off the game field at M.M. Roberts Stadium following the team's eighth practice of preseason camp.
Hall went on to praise the Taylorsville, Miss., native, who saw action in four games last season before being lost for the year with an injury. Keyes was named the team's starter heading into the 2022 season late during spring practice.
"He had one bad decision all day on a RPO and he probably should have handed it (off), but he was almost flawless – set in protection against a lot of looks," said Hall of Keyes' Saturday performance. "One of the things about Ty that no one talks about, because he is not live (during practice), is how many rushing yards he would have if he was live. Because that is a big part of his game."
Hall was especially pleased after a day in which he thought struggled in the previous practice.
"He did not have his best day yesterday mentally, which is very uncharacteristic of him," said Hall. "But thought he had a really good day today."
The Golden Eagles will take off Sunday, before returning to the practice fields Monday morning.
