Southern Miss Practices in Full Pads for First Time Thursday During Preseason Camp

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The sixth practice of preseason camp for the Southern Miss football team meant full pads for the first time as the squad returned to work Thursday morning on the game field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
"We had the full gear on today and got to tackle at little bit for the first time and that was good to see," said second-year coach Will Hall. "Early on, in our team run-play action period, we made a lot of really nice things happen offensively – our backs making people miss coupled with some big plays in the passing game.
"As the day went on, the defense ramped it back up and finished up strong."
The Golden Eagles enjoyed their first off day on Wednesday after working the previous five days. Hall was asked about the progress of the defensive line after practice and he praised both sides of the ball.
"We have had some good back-and-forth all camp with them and with our o-line," said Hall. "We have good players on both sides. They are both really bringing it and pushing each other to be better. They both have potential to be really good units."
The Golden Eagles return to shoulder pads for practice Friday morning.
