HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss softball enters the 2022 season with a pair of All-Conference USA Preseason Team honorees. Graduate students Tata Davis and Destini Brown were named to the team by the conference on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Davis and Brown bring a wealth of experience and numerous accolades to Southern Miss' squad, as both were named First Team All-C-USA selections following stellar campaigns in 2021.
Brown begins her fifth season as a member of the Black & Gold looking to add to her already decorated career. The McComb, Miss. native has 81 career stolen bases, currently tied with Chrystal Stevens for the program record. Davis returns for the Golden Eagles following a strong 2021 season, which saw her lead Southern Miss in multiple statistical categories. She finished the year with 57 hits, the most of any Golden Eagle, and ended the season ranked No. 3 in the C-USA. The Philadelphia, Miss. product also led Southern Miss in batting average (.324), RBI (36), total bases (90) and slugging percentage (.511).
