Five Former Golden Eagles on Active Rosters Heading into Super Wild Card Weekend

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Five former Southern Miss football players appear on National Football League active rosters as 14 teams take the first step to winning a world championship heading into Super Wild Card Weekend.
Two Golden Eagles look to help their respective offenses as the Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals open up the playoffs in a 3:30 p.m. Saturday contest (NBC). Running back Jalen Richard appeared in 10 games during the year for the Raiders and posted nine carries for 40 yards to go along with 12 catches for 72. Meanwhile, Bengals wide receiver Mike Thomas appeared in 12 games and had five grabs for 52 yards.
In the Saturday evening game, linebacker Jamie Collins, Sr., lines up for the New England Patriots against the Buffalo Bills in a 7:15 p.m. contest (CBS). During the regular season, Collins played in 10 games with 17 tackles, including a sack, to go along with one interception and three pass deflections.
As the schedule moves to Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 12 noon contest (FOX). Wide receiver Quez Watkins saw action in all 17 games for the Eagles during the regular season and caught 43 passes for 647 yards and a touchdown. On the other side of the ball for the Buccaneers is Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who will be battling for his second-straight championship. Nunez-Roches played in 16 games for the Bucs and tallied 17 total tackles and forced a fumble.
A former Golden Eagle also holds spots on rosters for the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys who play at 3:30 p.m. (CBS), but are not on the active roster. Ito Smith, who scored for the Cowboys last weekend, is currently on the Cowboys practice squad, while Tarvarius Moore is on the physically able to perform list for the 49ers.
Super Bowl LVI will take place Sunday, Feb. 13, at 5:30 p.m., at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles.
