DeAndre Pinckney Honored by C-USA for Community Service

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss junior forward DeAndre Pinckney has been recognized by Conference USA as part of its Spirit of Service winter edition.

Pinckney has given it his all, on and off the floor, before and after arriving on campus. This past fall, he virtually read to students at Purvis Lower Elementary, as well as joining team efforts with Extra Table, packing and boxing 1,200 pounds of rice for those in need in Hattiesburg. The Carol City, Fla., native also tutored middle school students in math back home and graduated with 500 community service hours, including helping build tables and benches for elementary schools.

Pinckney, who holds a 3.4 GPA as well, started 15 games for the Golden Eagles this past season, averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He reached double-figure scoring in nine league games. The sport management major played his first two years at Broward CC.
