Destini Brown Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior center fielder Destini Brown has earned C-USA Hitter of the Week honors after a standout week of play.
Brown put up phenomenal numbers last weekend at the Mercer Bears Classic. Brown led Southern Miss to four consecutive victories on the weekend leading the team with a .533 batting average, a .611 on base percentage, slugging pct., and stolen bases. She hit two triples and three home runs, stole three bases, drove in five runs and scored eight times.
In game one of the tournament vs. Winthrop, Brown led off with an inside-the-park home run and followed it up with a triple in a 7-4 victory.
In game two vs. Western Carolina, she went 3 for 4 with a triple and a stolen base in a 2-0 victory.
In the final game of the tournament against Mercer, Brown had the first multi home run game of her career and recorded four RBI.
Southern Miss play next on the road in Mobile, Alabama against the Jaguars of South Alabama on Wednesday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
