Bolden Earns Second CUSA Freshman of the Week Honor

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â For the second time this season, Southern Miss men's basketball freshman Rashad Bolden has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week. Bolden went for 12 points and a career-high five assists in the Golden Eagles' one-point loss at East Carolina last Tuesday.Â
The St. Andrew's product played just over 39 minutes and knocked down his first four shots before finishing 5-of-8 from the field for the game. Bolden went 2-of-3 from three-point land and hit a big three-pointer to extend the Southern Miss lead just minutes into the second half. The Jackson, Miss. native pulled down two rebounds and only turned the ball over two times. Bolden has averaged 15.5 points per game over his last two appearances after scoring a combined 15 points over his previous five games.Â
Bolden was previously named the CUSA Freshman of the Week on Nov. 29 after dropping a career-high 29 points against UNCW at the Zootown Classic. His 29 points tied the program record for the most points scored by a Southern Miss freshman in a single game.Â
Bolden and the Golden Eagles open CUSA play when they host Western Kentucky on Thursday, Dec. 30. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Reed Green Coliseum.
