Golden Eagles Ranked in Top 20 Nationally in the NCAA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Through the first month of the regular season, five different Southern Miss football players rank among the nation's leaders in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision statistical categories.
Redshirt sophomore Jaylond Adams (Adamsville, Ala.) finds himself in sixth different listings including a first nationally in kickoff returns for touchdowns with two. His solo punt return for a score also ranks tied for first in the country. In addition, Adams holds a No. 3 place in both combined kickoff return yards with 390, as well as punt return yard average at 20.2.
Adams also enjoys a No. 4 national ranking in kickoff return average yards at 36.1 to go along at No. 6 in all-purpose yards per game at 168.3.
Redshirt junior quarterback Jack Abraham (Oxford, Miss.) holds four national Top 20 rankings, including eighth for yards per attempt (23.30), No. 10 in passing yards at 1,164, along with being No. 16 in yards per completion (14.37) and tied for 16th in passing yards per game (291.0).
On the defensive side, senior DQ Thomas (Arlington, Texas) holds two national rankings, including a No. 7 tie for interceptions with two and a 13th-place tie in tackles for loss with seven.
Redshirt junior Quez Watkins (Athens, Ala.) and junior Eriq Kitchen (Batesville, Miss.) each hold one Top 20 ranking with Watkins at No. 12 in yards per reception at 23.30 and Kitchen tied for 20th in fumble recoveries with one.
Southern Miss opens Conference USA play this weekend when they entertain UTEP in a 6 p.m., contest at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.

Tickets are also available on game day there starting at 11 a.m., until 2:30 p.m., and will then be on sale at the Roberts Stadium Box Office located on the Southwest side.
The game can also be seen on ESPN+, as well as heard on one of the affiliates of the Southern Miss Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.
