Softball Set to Host Third Annual Run to the Rock 5K on November 9th

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team has announced its plans to host its third annual Run to the Rock 5K on Saturday, November 9, prior to the Southern Miss vs. UAB football game. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. (CT) at Spirit Park on the campus of Southern Miss.

Run to the Rock 5K is a race through the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi that ends on the football field in M.M. Roberts Stadium a.k.a. The Rock. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a ticket to the Southern Miss vs. UABÂ football game that is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (November 9). The race is to benefit the Southern Miss Softball program.

The registration deadline to receive a shirt on the day of the event is Monday, Nov. 4. Registrations after that date and on the day of the event will receive a shirt within a month after the event.

REGISTRATION/CHECK-IN
Registration and check in starts at 7:00 a.m. Registration is available on the day of the event, but participants are encouraged to register prior to the day of the event. The registration/check-in tent will be setup in Spirit Park on the campus of Southern Miss.
Spectators will need to wear a wristband that can be obtained from the registration table that allows them inside the football stadium to watch the finish line from the sidelines.
PACKET PICKUP
Race packets are available at the registration tent the morning of the race and can also be picked up on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Duff Athletic Center between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Duff Athletic Center is located here. Visitor parking will be available on Championship Lane. Participants will need to go to the front desk in the intercollegiate athletics suite on the second floor of the Duff Athletic Center to pick up their packet at the front desk.
PARKING
All participants and spectators are encouraged to park in the Payne Center parking lot which can be accessed from Golden Eagle Ave off of West 4th St. To park in this area from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., cars must display the following parking pass. Participants may pick up their parking pass when they pick up their race packet on Friday, November 8th at the Duff Athletic Center between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Payne Center Lot on the following map is designated as the main parking area. Additional free parking is designated in green on the map.
COURSE MAP
The course will start in Spirit Park and weave through the Southern Miss campus. It will finish inside M.M. Roberts Stadium.
BAG CHECK
There will be a bag check at the registration table. All items checked at the bag check will be transported to the finish line.
RESTROOMS
Restrooms will be available throughout campus.
FIRST AID/WATER STATION/POST-WORKOUT
AAA Ambulance will be providing medical needs in case of emergency. There will be two water stations available on the course. After the race, fruit and nutrition bars and drinks will be available to race participants.
