Jaylond Adams Named Midseason All-American by The Athletic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss redshirt-sophomore wide receiver and special teams phenom Jaylond Adams has garnered Midseason Second-Team All-American honors by The Athletic.
Adams is the only player in the nation with two kick return TDs, one for 89 yards on the season-opening kickoff versus Alcorn, and the other for 100 yards at Troy in a 47-42 win. He also had a 80-yard punt return against the Braves, becoming the first Golden Eagle since James Henry (1988 Independence Bowl) to have two special-teams return touchdowns in the same game.
The Adamsville, Ala., native is the first in program history with touchdowns off a punt and kick in the same game, as well as the first with each of those in the same season since Tracy Lampley in 2009.
In addition to Adams' prowess on special teams, the 5-foot-10 speedster has a team-high 32 catches for 365 yards and two scores.
Southern Miss (4-2, 2-0 C-USA) returns to action Saturday at Louisiana Tech (5-1, 2-0 C-USA). Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on NFL Network.
