Brett Favre Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame This Weekend

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The journey of the football player from Kiln, Miss., which took a four-year stop at Southern Miss, reaches its pinnacle Saturday evening with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Brett Favre, the most recognizable name in the history of Southern Miss football, will be inducted as part of the Class of 2016 along with Eddie DeBartolo Jr., Tony Dungy, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel.
The NFL Network provides seven hours of live Pro Football Hall of Fame coverage today from Canton, Ohio, including the Hall of Fame Saturday show starting at 3 p.m., which features a segment of wired sound of Favre throughout the years, as well as a walk down memory lane between No. 4 and his former Packers position coach Steve Mariucci.
The enshrinement show starts at 6 p.m., CT, and Favre's wife, Deanna, will present him for induction.
A quarterback for Southern Miss from 1987-90, Favre earned election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first time on the ballot.
After playing high school football for his father, Irv Favre, at Hancock North Central, he quickly became a household name in the state of Mississippi after starting as a 17-year-old freshman to go on and become one of school's all-time greatest players, leading the Golden Eagles to road victories over the likes of Alabama, Auburn and Florida State.
He lettered at the school in all four of his seasons and ranks third at the school in passing yards (7,695), tied for third in touchdown passes (52) and third in total offensive yards (7,606).
Following his graduation, the 20-year National Football League veteran got his start with the Atlanta Falcons after being drafted in the second round. After a season with the Falcons, Favre was traded to the Green Bay Packers and became one of the all-time legends of the NFL.
Favre retired as the NFL's all-time leading passer with 6,300 completions, 10,169 attempts, 71,838 yards, 508 TDs) and now is one of only two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for over 70,000 yards, over 500 touchdowns and over 6,000 completions. His other NFL stops include the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings.
The league's all-time iron man started a consecutive 297 games (321 including playoffs) and won three-straight NFL MVP honors from 1995-1997 and one Super Bowl title. The first-team All-Pro three straight seasons, who also was named All-NFC six times and earned 11 Pro Bowl invitations and earned a spot on the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
Favre is the second Golden Eagles to enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame as Ray Guy became the first punter to receive the honor as part of the 2014 class.
