Report: With just over a week until its first game, the Southern Miss football team continued to put in work toward its first opponent - Kentucky - Thursday afternoon with a 2 ½ hour practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility. The Golden Eagles. Following practice, the first-year Golden Eagle coach, Jay Hopson, talked about rotating the defensive line during the season.

On if the defensive line is set or will have rotation...
"It's always a rotation coming in. We have some revolving parts. Everyone does it defensively. We have some guys that can play the five and the three, so we rotate them around. We don't want anyone playing 85 snaps. Nothing's more exhausting than playing defensive line."
On if the defensive line rotation has anything to do with changing offensive schemes...
"It's probably got a lot. It's a faster game than it used to be. That's just reality. It's nothing that anyone in America hasn't seen. I think over time players and others have adapted and it shouldn't be as big a deal as it used to be."
On size factor for the defensive line going into the Kentucky game...
"I never worried about size. Just be tough. We have some guys on our front four that I really like who will go to work and give a great effort. That's what we have to have. I'm very happy with them."
