Report: The Southern Miss football team continued preparations for the annual Black & Gold Spring as the team finished their 14th practice in shorts and helmets for 2 hours and 30 minutes on Friday afternoon. The team worked on special teams, team drills as long with individual position work.

"I've seen some constant growth. (Devonta) Foster went down with an injury earlier this spring. Obviously we have missed having him but it has been good to see the other guys. They have really done some good things and that builds depth. Hopefully all of that will pay off this season."

"Kelsey has done well this spring. They both have played very well and I expect them both to play a lot of football. I'm excited about both of them."
On how the Black and Gold teams were split up ...
"We had a draft. The coaches had a draft and that was a lot of fun. The coaches have to be smart in their draft picks. If one team picks 10 offensive linemen then the other might have to put a receiver at offensive guard. It's fun how it all worked out. We miss and matched it and it all worked out so now it's time to play the game. It should be fun. I think the players and coaches are both excited. It was a true NFL draft scenario and I think it makes it fun for the kids on Saturday."
