Exciting Activities Announced for 5th Quarter Festival

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Looking for something to do in between the Black and Gold Football Spring Game and the Showdown at The Pete as Baseball hosts Rice? Look no further as Southern Miss Athletics has an exciting event planned for you with the 5th Quarter Festival!
The 5th Quarter Festival will take place in Spirit Park immediately following the Black and Gold Spring Game at The Rock. Spirit Park, the new tailgating area located in front of the Thad Cochran Center, will be filled with fun events for fans of all ages. Live music, free food samples and drinks, inflatables, games and a jersey sale highlight the event.
Want to get your hands on authentic Southern Miss memorabilia? Then make sure that you visit the jersey sale that will take place in Spirit Park as part of the 5th Quarter Festival from 1:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The sale will feature football, baseball, and softball jerseys from past Golden Eagle teams. Football jerseys will be $40 and baseball and softball jerseys will sell for $30 each. These jerseys will be available for sale on a first come, first serve basis during this event. Cash and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) will be accepted on location for payment for the jerseys.
A festival would not be complete without food and we have you covered with several free food samples as part of the Taste of the ‘Burg. Vendors will be setup along the sidewalk of Spirit Park to provide attendees with great samples of their products. Free drinks will also be provided thanks to Hattiesburg Coca-Cola.
A kids zone will also be setup on Spirit Park to provide entertainment for children of all ages. Inflatables slides and bounce houses along with carnival games will be setup for the enjoyment of all in attendance. And the Southern Pines Animal Shelter will also be on location with puppies. Music, food, games and puppies and it is all completely free!
The 5th Quarter Festival will wrap-up at 3:30 p.m. as all of Golden Eagle Nation makes their way over for the Showdown at The Pete as the Southern Miss Baseball team hosts Rice for Game 2 of their weekend series at 4 p.m. It will be Corky Palmer and Baseball Lettermen Day at The Pete as we celebrate Coach Palmer's contributions to the program and have several former members of the Golden Eagle Baseball Program on hand to take part in the festivities.
Below is the Timeline for Saturday's Eagle Fest Events:
- 9 a.m. â€" Registration for Future Golden Eagle Football Camp â€" Gate 1 of The Rock
- 0 â€" 11 a.m. â€" Future Golden Eagle Football Camp at The Rock
- 10 â€" 11:30 a.m. â€" Champions Brunch in the Giannini Touchdown Terrace
- Noon â€" Black and Gold Football Spring Game (Free Admission)
- 1:45 â€" 3:30 p.m. â€" 5th Quarter Festival at Spirit Park
- 4 p.m. â€" Baseball vs. Rice at The Pete
Additionally, here are a few important notes to keep in mind for Saturday's Eagle Fest Events:
- Parking is available on campus on a first come, first serve basis as there will not be any reserved areas (aside from Handicap parking)
- Tailgating is prior and after the Black and Gold game is welcome however please adhere to normal game day tailgating rules and policies.
- Ray Guy Way, from the turnabout by the Duff Athletic Center to in front of Bond Hall, will be closed from Noon â€" 4 p.m. due to the 5th Quarter Festival.
- Seating for the Black and Gold Spring Game will be available on the Lower West Side of the Stadium. Admission is Free to the contest; please enter via Gate 1 or Gate 3 of M.M. Roberts Stadium.
- The Southern Miss Ticket Office Staff will be on location to assist with purchasing 2016 Southern Miss Football Season Tickets before and during the game. Please come visit our staff near the entrance of Gate 3.
- Concessions will be available for purchase within the Concession Stands throughout the Lower West Concourse of M.M. Roberts Stadium during the Black and Gold Spring Game.
