Softball Heads to Starkville for Game with State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss softball team heads to Starkville, Miss. for a single game on Tuesday evening against Mississippi State at Nusz Park. First pitch between the Golden Eagles and Bulldogs is slated for 6:00 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+ and will be available on the Watch ESPN app. In addition, live stats and in-game tweets will be available throughout the game.
Southern Miss enters the week with a 23-23 overall record after posting a three-game sweep of North Texas over the weekend. The sweep was the first Conference USA sweep for the Golden Eagles since the 2011 season.
For her efforts over the weekend, Samantha Robles was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore recorded a perfect 2-0 record in two appearances. She allowed just a pair of unearned runs in 14.0 innings of work with one walk and 13 strikeouts for a 0.00 ERA on the week.
Mississippi State starts the week with a 23-20 overall record after dropping a three-game set with No. 11 LSU, 2-1, over the weekend.
The game will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. The 23 Bulldogs posted a 6-0 victory over the Golden Eagles at the Mardi Gras Classic in Mobile, Ala. Junior Tori Rouse broke up State's potential no-hitter with a single with one out in the seventh inning.
Mississippi State holds a 33-13 advantage in the series, including a 13-8 mark in Starkville.
