Softball Hosts WKU in Home Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss softball team continues home play with a three-game Conference USA weekend series with defending C-USA Champions WKU. The game is slated for a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m.) and will conclude on Sunday with a single game at 1 p.m.
The weekend is designated as Take a Kid to the Game for Free Weekend. Any kid 12 and under receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. In addition, kids will serve as guest public address announcers throughout the doubleheader on Saturday. On Sunday, the Southern Miss softball team will have a poster signing after the game.
Live stats and in-game tweets (@SouthernMissSB) will be available throughout the three games. In addition, the games will be broadcast on southernmiss.com/allaccess with Drew Granger handling the play-by-play.
Southern Miss enters the weekend with a 16-19 overall record, including a 3-6 Conference USA mark. WKU is 11-16 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Last season, the two teams met for the first time on the softball diamond. The Lady Toppers recorded the series sweep in Bowling Green.
On the year, Southern Miss has recorded a .282 team-batting average led by Tori Dew's .374 average as the junior has recorded 37 hits, nine doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI on 99 total at-bats. Junior Lauren Holifield leads with 23 RBI on just 25 hits while Katie Cleary is hitting .321 with 34 hits on 106 at-bats.
In the circle, the Golden Eagles are led by redshirt sophomore Samantha Robles who has recorded a team-best 9-7 record in 22 appearances. Robles leads the Golden Eagles with 63 strikeouts and 12 complete games in 110.1 innings pitched.
