Softball Heads to Sunshine State to Face #23 FAU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss softball team travels to Florida for a Conference USA match up with No. 23 Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. The Golden Eagles and Owls are scheduled for a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m. CT. The series concludes with a single game on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. CT.

Southern Miss enters the weekend 15-16 overall with a 2-4 mark in Conference USA play. Florida Atlantic is 26-5 and 3-0 in league play.
The Owls hold a 5-1 overall series advantage over the Golden Eagles. The Black and Gold are 1-2 against FAU in Boca Raton. Southern Miss won the first meeting between the two teams, a 2-0 decision on March 22, 2014.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend after dropping a three-game weekend series with UAB, 2-1. The Black and Gold posted a 6-3 win in opener. The Blazers tied the series in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. In the finale, Southern Miss received home runs from Lauren Holifield and Tori Dew, but were edged 3-2.
The series will be a homecoming for four Southern Miss softball players that call the Sunshine State home. Selena Estrada and Jillian Johnson are both from Panama City, while Arielle Pollock and Sydney Pollock are both from Windermere.
