Report: The Southern Miss football team returned to the practice fields Tuesday afternoon to continue preparations for its final regular-season road tilt of the campaign at North Texas this Saturday. The Golden Eagles, which hold a 6-4 advantage over the Mean Green in the series, has won the last two meetings with North Texas including a 49-14 decision at The Rock last season. Southern Miss looks to snap a two-game losing streak this weekend as the game will be shown on beIN Sports (Comcast channel 729 in Hattiesburg).
Coach Jay Hopson
On Tuesday's practice:
"It was a good practice today. Certainly our guys came out and competed hard."
On the major points of emphasis today:
"It was kind of a normal Tuesday for us as we get ready for North Texas."
On translating the play from practice into gameday:
"We had a great week of practice (last week) and certainly has a good practice today. We just have to carry those things over to Saturday night. That is just what we have to do."
On the players feedback on working on trying to get bowl eligible:
"We have great kids. They fight and practice hard. This bunch is going to battle through all of its adversity and stay 100 percent positive."
On similarities between Southern Miss and North Texas:
"Each team has a different struggle and we are going into week 11 and have to understand that we have to prepare hard to get ready for a good football team and that is what we are trying to do."
