Diamond Club Banquet Set for Jan. 30

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss softball team announced its annual Diamond Club Banquet scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. in the Thad Cochran Building.
The event is $20 per person and you must be a member of the Diamond Club to attend. There is a limited number of seats, therefore, reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling Dawn Gillis at 601-620-6421 or Mike Arrington at 713-299-7000. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your name, phone number, and the number of tickets you wish to purchase.
Fans can mail checks to Dawn Gillis at 696 Archie Smith Rd., Hattiesburg, MS 39402. Make checks payable to USM Foundation / Diamond Club.
The event will feature a silent auction for the first time with patrons able to bid on Southern Miss memorabilia as well as items related to the upcoming season.
"The Diamond Club Banquet is always a great event," head coach Wendy Hogue said. "It provides a unique atmosphere in which the team really gets to know our biggest supporters on a level far more personal than just speaking at the games.
"I'm very excited about the addition of the silent auction this year! There will be memorabilia from the World Series teams as well as items featuring the current team. We have a surprise item or two that we're hoping will generate some excitement among the crowd!"
The Southern Miss softball team is scheduled to play a 55-game schedule that includes 26 games at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. In addition, the Golden Eagles will play 19 games against 11 different teams that played in NCAA Regionals last season.
Southern Miss begins the 2016 campaign at the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala. on Feb. 12-14. The Golden Eagles host Alabama State in a doubleheader at the Softball Complex to open up the 2016 home campaign on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
