HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Two former Golden Eagles football players squared off against each other on the NFL gridiron last week with a chance to play in the AFC Championship Game on the line. Rakeem Nunez-Roches and the Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Foxborough, Mass. to take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots and All-Pro linebacker Jamie Collins.
Nunez-Roches and the Kansas City defense held New England to 38 rushing yards on 14 attempts, however, despite keeping New England's offense one-dimensional, the Patriots came out on top, 27-20.
Collins started for the Patriots, compiling six tackles in the win against the Chiefs. In Collins' three years as a Patriot, the team has reached the AFC Championship Game every year. Next Sunday, the Patriots will travel to Denver to face off against the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos at 2:05 p.m. on CBS.
