HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Tonight is the official kickoff for the NFL regular season. The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots led defensively by former Golden Eagle standout Jamie Collins.
Nine different Southern Miss players are currently on rosters in the National Football League. Here is a quick look at their first week matchups:
Chris Clark, Houston -- Started seven games last season for the Denver Broncos. (This week -- vs. Chiefs, 12 p.m.)
Jamie Collins, New England -- Started 15 games last season and was a defensive focal point in their Super Bowl XLIX Championship; had 116 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions (This week -- vs. Pittsburgh, 7:30 p.m.)
Austin Davis, Cleveland -- Played in 10 games including eight starts last season for the St. Louis Rams, passed for 2,001 yards with 12 touchdowns (This week -- at New York Jets, 12 p.m.)
Demar Dotson, Tampa Bay -- Started all 16 games last season for Tampa Bay (This week -- vs. Tennessee, 3:25 p.m.)
Lamar Holmes, Atlanta -- Started four games for Atlanta last season (This week -- vs. Philadelphia, 6:10 p.m. *Monday Night*)
Tom Johnson, Minnesota -- Started two games last season for Minnesota, compiled 22 tackles, 6.5 sacks and one forced fumble (This week -- at San Francisco, 9:20 p.m. *Monday Night*)

Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Kansas City -- Selected in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (This week -- at Houston, 12 p.m.)
Khyri Thornton, New England -- Selected in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers; Spent season on the injured reserve (This week -- vs. Pittsburgh, 7:30 p.m.)
