Southern Miss will have a scripted scrimmage on Saturday night before beginning game week preparation on Sunday. Southern Miss opens the 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against in-state rival Mississippi State.
Head Coach Todd Monken
On the intensity level...
"It was good today. There were no excuses. We went an hour and fifteen minutes and it was nice outside. Our guys bounced back from an okay practice and it can happen if when you practice three days in a row. It's hard to have four straight days with really good intensity but we had three out of the four, which is good."
Feelings heading into the scrimmage...
"I feel really good. Tomorrow won't be much. It's really just getting used to game day and situations. We are done hitting now so now it's just fine tuning what we want to do."
Linebacker Anthony Swain
What is your role in the defense?
"My role right now is to be a physical guy and show physical presence. Just to be a leader to the younger guys and bring my experience from the SEC to the table."
Running back Justice Hayes
Talk about your experience at Southern Miss so far...
"It's been a great experience. I have a lot of great teammates and talented guys on the team. We want to bring it all together and have a great year."
