Chip Armelin Named Third Team All-Conference USA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior guard Chip Armelin was named Third Team All-Conference USA in a vote by the league's 12 coaches and various media, the league office announced Monday morning.
Armelin led the team, and is fifth in Conference USA, in points, averaging 15.8 points per game. He also led Conference USA in scoring in conference games only, averaging 18.1 points per game. He is second in the league in minutes played (35.2) and led the league in C-USA games only (38.4). He is also seventh in the conference in three-point field goals per game (2.1) and tied for fourth in C-USA games only (2.4). He also averaged 4.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals.
He is the only player to start all 29 games this year for the Golden Eagles. He scored in double-figures in 21 games this year. Armelin led the team in scoring 15 times, assists eight times and rebounding six times. He has eight 20-point games on the year, and has scored at least 15 points in 18 games. Against North Texas, he scored a career-high 30 points.
The Sulphur, La., native made 61 three-pointers this year, becoming just the 10th player in school history with at least 60 three's in a season. He finished his career in the top-25 in field goal percentage (.479), three-pointers (78), three-pointers attempted (225) and three-point field goal percentage (.347).
