Getting to Know... Kevin Holland

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- As the countdown for the season-opener approaches, a Southern Miss men's basketball player will be featured each day in preparation for the 2015-16 season. The Golden Eagles open the season on the road against former Conference USA rival Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 14.
With 10 days until tipoff for the regular season, sophomore guard Kevin Holland is featured.
Last season, Holland was one of two players to play all 29 games, starting the final 11 games of the season. He averaged 1.4 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 rebounds as a true freshman, leading the team in assists six times. Holland saw first career action against William Carey, scoring three points in 20 minutes. He pulled down a season-high five rebounds versus South Alabama, while recording two steals at Jackson State. Holland had three assists at UTSA. He made first career start against Marshall, scoring five points. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native scored a season-high seven points at UAB. Holland had season-highs in rebounds (5) and minutes played (44) versus FIU, while adding six assists. He recorded five assists against UTSA and had a season-high seven assists and three steals versus UTEP.
Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Holland played basketball at Paul W. Bryant High School. He led the Stampede to a 26-6 record and a berth in the Class 5A Central Regional Title Game. Holland averaged 20.3 points and 5.7 rebounds. He was named All-State Honorable Mention by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and named to the 2014 Final Four All-Tournament Team. Holland was the only player in school history to score 1,000 points, finishing with 1,714. The two-star prospect by both ESPN.com and Rivals.com was a four-year starter, leading the Stampede to a four-year record of 102-30, including three Area Championships, three State Elite Eight appearances, one Final Four and one Central Regional Championship.
Off the court, Holland is majoring in sport management.
