Basketball Tips Off 2015-16 Season with Exhibition

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's basketball team takes to the hardwood for the first time this season as the Golden Eagles welcome the Millsaps Majors to Reed Green Coliseum for an exhibition game on Thursday night. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. and admission is FREE.
Southern Miss enters the second year of the Doc Sadler Era. The Golden Eagles posted a 9-20 overall mark last season, including an 8-7 mark at home. Over the last three-plus years, Southern Miss has taken care of business on its home court, going 52-9 since 2011 in Reed Green Coliseum, a winning percentage of .852. In addition, since 2011, Southern Miss 26-7 (.788) in home conference games.
The 2015-16 roster returns seven players off of last year's team, including six letterwinners -- Keljin Blevins, Norville Carey, Jamie Chapman, Eddie Davis III, Kevin Holland, and Michael O'Donnell. In addition, transfer Khari Price is now eligible after sitting out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
The Golden Eagles welcome eight new faces to the court this season, including four transfers and four true freshmen. The Southern Miss freshmen include Christian Clark, Cortez Edwards, Tim Rowe, and Robert Thomas III, while the transfers consist of Quinton Campbell (East Central CC), Kourtlin Jackson (Iowa State), Michael Ramey (Seminole State [Okla.] College), and Raheem Watts (Dodge City [Kan.] CC).
The Golden Eagles open the season on the road against former Conference USA rival Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 14. The home opener for team is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 17 against Jackson State.
