Getting to Know... Raheem Watts

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- As the countdown for the season-opener approaches, a Southern Miss men's basketball player will be featured each day in preparation for the 2015-16 season. The Golden Eagles open the season on the road against former Conference USA rival Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 14.
With 12 days until tipoff for the regular season, junior forward Raheem Watts is featured.
Watts joined the Golden Eagles after spending a year at Jacksonville College and Dodge City Community College.
The South Carolina native began his collegiate career at Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. Watts played in 21 games, making 10 starts as a rookie, scoring 191 points on 74-for-162 (.457) shooting. He pulled down 78 rebounds, while dishing out 14 assists to go along with 14 steals and four blocked shots.
Watts transferred to Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan. to conclude his junior college career. He played in 33 games, making 30 starts on the season. Watts scored 291 points, going 105-for-232 (.453) from the floor, while pulling down 144 rebounds on the season with 36 assists, 19 steals and 12 blocked shots.
In high school, Watts played forward at Greenville Senior High School in Greenville, S.C. He helped the Red Raiders to the State Semifinals as a sophomore, while averaging a double-double as a junior and a senior, going for 15 points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior and 16 points and 10 boards per game as a senior. Watts averaged seven points and nine rebounds per game as a sophomore and 10 points and eight boards as a freshman. In addition, he also played football for GSHS.
Off the court, Watts is majoring in sport management.
