Getting to Know... Robert Thomas III

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- As the countdown for the season-opener approaches, a Southern Miss men's basketball player will be featured each day in preparation for the 2015-16 season. The Golden Eagles open the season on the road against former Conference USA rival Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 14.
With 13 days until tipoff for the regular season, freshman guard Robert Thomas III is featured.
Thomas played point guard at Permian High School in Odessa Texas, where he started at point guard all four years for the Panthers. The Odessa native averaged 24 points a game as a senior. Thomas was voted to the Texas Hall of Fame.
Off the court, Thomas was an honor student and member of the National Honor Society in high school. He is currently majoring in pharmaceuticals.
