Report: The Golden Eagles returned to the game field inside M.M. Roberts Stadium for the second consecutive day as the squad looks to win their fifth-straight contest this weekend. Southern Miss, which has averaged 41.3 points per game while allowing just 10.8 points over the last four contests, continued to put in its game plan for its final regular-season home game of the season this Saturday. It will be Senior Day for 20 Golden Eagles who will be playing their final game at The Rock.
Head Coach Todd Monken
Q: Did practice on the field give a little extra hype for the seniors preparing to play in potentially their last game in this stadium?
"It didn't really feel that way yesterday. It's just because of the rain. The wind was blowing and there was anticipation of rain. I don't know if it meant any more to them, but I felt like today's practice was better."
Q: Brandon Farmer got the opportunity to get a few snaps last week at center. What did he show you?
"He did fine. We got him in there and got (Bradley) Nugent in there too. We needed him to get a few snaps because he plays so much guard for us but he is our backup center so that was nice. I think a couple of games like Charlotte and this game we had the chance to get him some reps."
Redshirt Freshman OL Brian Long
Q: You got your first real dose of extended play time out in Texas this past weekend. Tell us about that.
"Well, all season I have been working hard to get on the field. I try to get in at guard, but wherever I am needed I'm ready to play. I'm happy to get a chance but I just have to keep working hard."
