Getting to Know... Jamie Chapman

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- As the countdown for the season-opener approaches, a Southern Miss men's basketball player will be featured each day in preparation for the 2015-16 season. The Golden Eagles open the season on the road against former Conference USA rival Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 14.
With 14 days until tipoff for the regular season, senior Jamie Chapman is featured.
As a junior, Chapman played in 23 games. He saw his first action of the season against Troy, recording one block in seven minutes. Chapman registered three points, one assist and one block in 11 minutes against Spring Hill. The Mobile native scored two points at Georgia State, while notching a season-high two steals at LSU. Chapman had a season-high three assists against Western Kentucky. He scored five points at Middle Tennessee and grabbed four rebounds at UAB. Chapman scored a season-high seven points in a season-best 32 minutes versus FIU, while pulling down a season-high five rebounds at Louisiana Tech.
As a sophomore, the guard saw action in 14 games. Chapman scored three points and grabbed two rebounds against William Carey, while recording his first career assist against Drexel. He posted a steal against Rice.
In his rookie campaign, Chapman saw first career action against Western Kentucky. He recorded first career steal versus Liberty, while adding a steal against Grambling. Chapman grabbed his first career rebound versus William Carey. He scored nine points on three field goals, including two three-pointers, in five minutes against Dillard.
Chapman, whose father Allen played basketball at Southern Miss from 1985-89, is majoring in art.
