Report: Under overcast skies, the Golden Eagles continue to prepare for their Conference USA road contest at Charlotte this Saturday. Southern Miss practiced for 2 ½ hours, going one-on-one position drills, before continuing to install its game plan with team periods during the second half of the workout. The Golden Eagles look to capture their first Conference USA road victory this week, since defeating North Texas, 30-20, in Denton last season.

On whether Jalen Richard and Ito Smith are a one-two punch at running back...
"I don't know. You know Justice (Hayes) has been a little bit banged up. We would like to redshirt Tez (Parks) so that kind of forces the issue at this moment. The offensive line has been a critical part of their success. How we utilize them has helped and, of course, their hard work. They are two really good space players. They are both similar and different in their own ways. They have had a good run this season, but there is no guarantee what will happen this week so we are going to have to block, scheme it up and those guys will have to run hard."
On the offensive line depth, especially the non-starters...
"I think Drew (Peterson) has gotten better. Just all the reps and with the time he has off before getting here. Oliver (Bates) is getting healthy again, so that has helped. Our guys have continued to get more consistent with what you can expect and that helps."
