Report: Southern Miss enjoyed another pleasant fall afternoon to go through the weekly practice in full pads. The Golden Eagles continued to install its game plan for their homecoming contest this Saturday against UTSA. The team worked on special teams drill as well as individual position drills before going into several team periods.
Head Coach Todd Monken
Thoughts on Wednesdays practice...
"I could hear voices, chirping and energy. I don't know how to explain it. Whether you walk into a room or the practice field you can just feel energy. It's like if you haven't seen your buddies for years and there are just stories, chirping and just a feel to it. We had that today which is a good sign."
On what has it been like to plan for a quarterback that doesn't have a lot of film so far...
"Well, he played all last game, some the week before and during the Oklahoma State game. There are about two games of watching him and he can throw, but also beat you with his feet. He really did a nice job in the second half of the Louisiana Tech game, after a rough first half. That says a lot about a quarterback. They only had 10 points off of Louisiana Tech turnovers and hadn't really moved it. Sometimes it just takes a little spark to get you going. They had a drive, a big play, another drive and another big play. Then, before you know it, they were really good about moving it."
LB Anthony Swain
On how he was feeling this week...
"I feel pretty good coming off of a hamstring injury. I have been working a lot to get it back strong and preparing for the upcoming game. I feel pretty good. The team had been working hard this week and we will have a good game this weekend."
