Freshman Keljin Blevins sat down with Southern Miss Media Relations to answer a few questions:
What made you choose Southern Miss?
"There were a lot of different schools that were recruiting me, but of all the coaches that I talked to, Coach Sadler was the one, who wasn't telling me what I wanted to here. He was telling me what was really going to happen, that I would have to come in and work, and I liked that."
How has the transition from high school to college been so far?
"The biggest difference is strength. You have to be stronger with the ball, and I've had to get my body stronger."
What are your personal and team goals for the season?
"I just want to do the best that I can for the team. I want to do the things that I can control, like rebounding, playing good defense and getting good shots for my teammates."
If there is one player that you try to model your game after, who would it be and why?
"My favorite player is LeBron James, but the way that I play is more like Kevin Durant."
Has there been a returning player that has taken you under their wing?
"It would be Chip (Armelin). He's just been telling me things that I can and can't do. He's helped me with my shot, getting my feet set. He's just been a leader and helped guide me."
What are you listening to when getting ready for a game?
"The Amigos"
What's the best advice you're ever received?
"My cousin told me once, `Work hard and stay humble.' That's the best advice I've ever heard."
