Southern Miss Athletics Announces Homecoming Weekend Festivities

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team will entertain Marshall this Saturday in the school's annual homecoming contest, but that is not the only thing happening on the Golden Eagle campus this weekend.
The following is a list of events taking place on the Golden Eagle campus this weekend running from Thursday, Nov. 6 - Sunday, Nov. 9:
Thursday, Nov. 6
- 7 p.m. - Men's Basketball exhibition versus Mississippi College (Reed Green Coliseum)
- There will be free admission - Season ticket holders have first rights to their normal seat locations
Friday, Nov. 7
- 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Friday Football Luncheon at the Trent Lott Center. There is a $10 lunch buffet open to all fans and featuring Southern Miss coaches and a pair of players.
- Southern Miss Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony in the evening at the Thad Cochran Center. Alumni Hall of Fame inductees include John Cox, Judge Deborah Gambrell Chambers, Billy Hewes, Judge David Ishee, Dr. William Lewis, Dr. Nancy New and Tommy Thornton.
- 7 p.m. - Friday Night at The Fountain on Centennial Lawn. Pep Rally that is open to the entire Southern Miss community featuring members of the Southern Miss Football team, The Pride of Mississippi, Dixie Darlings, Southern Misses and much more. Free concerting featuring Fides following the Pep Rally.
- 7 p.m. - Volleyball vs. WKU (Reed Green Coliseum)
- Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night - Buy One, Get One Free ticket special for all USM Faculty and Staff Members with ID
- Let's SAAC Hunger Week - Student-Athletes collecting canned food items at the gates to benefit the Edwards Street Fellowship Center. Those that donated 5 canned food items or more will receive a voucher for a ticket to the Lady Eagle Basketball Thanksgiving Classic.
Saturday, Nov. 8
- 19th Annual Homecoming Eagle 5k on Pride Field. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
- 11 a.m. - Homecoming Parade. Begins at Midtown Market making its way up Hardy Street and onto campus.
- 12 noon - Women's Basketball exhibition versus West Florida (Reed Green Coliseum)
- Free admission for this exhibition game
- 4 p.m. Eagle Walk begins and will feature the Homecoming Court
- 4:15-5:30 p.m. Tailgate with the Men's Basketball Team - The tailgate is at Centennial Lawn right after Eagle Walk. Free food, chance to meet the team and get your 2014 schedule posters
- 4:15 p.m. - WUSM Tailgate Concert Series begins on Centennial Lawn, featuring Jarekus Singleton, a former Southern Miss Basketball player and a 2008 graduate.
- Football vs. Marshall at The Rock - 6 p.m. Game televised on ASN.
- Military Appreciation Game
- Team will run out of the tunnel with the flags for all branches of the armed forces and there will be pre-game fireworks as the team takes the field
- Members of the Wounded Warrior Project will serve as the honorary captains for the game
- Special video tribute to all members of the armed forces
- Members of the military stationed throughout South Mississippi will attend the game thanks to donations by our fans. Fans can still donate tickets to this cause by calling 1-800-844-TICK and mentioning Seats4Soldiers.
- Homecoming Court to be presented at halftime of the game
- Alumni Hall of Hall will be introduced at halftime
- Dixie Darlings joined on the field at halftime by Dixie Darling Alumni
- Girl Scouts Day at The Rock
- Local girl scouts and their family members are able to purchase tickets at a group rate for this game. Please call Cody Bielstein at 601-266-4563.
- Girl Scouts in their uniforms will be able to walk around the field during pre-game.
