Golden Eagles in the NFL, Week 9
Eight different Southern Miss players are currently on rosters in the National Football League. Here is a quick recap on how they did this past weekend:
Chris Clark, Denver - came off the bench for the third time after starting the first five games as the Broncos lost at New England, 43-21. Clark is his fourth season with the Broncos, having played in 64 games and making 25 starts. (This week - at Oakland, 3:05 pm/CBS)
Jamie Collins, New England - notched a team-best 11 tackles (10 solos), including a tackle for loss, as the Patriots defeated Denver at home, 43-21. Collins has appeared in eight of the nine contests for the Patriots this season, starting at linebacker in all eight games that he has played. He has double-digit tackles in each of his last three games. The Patriots are 7-2 this season. (This week - Idle)
Austin Davis, St. Louis - made his seventh career start for the Rams and St. Louis avenged an earlier season loss to San Francisco by winning on the road 13-10. Davis completed a modest 13-of-24 passes for 105 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions leading the Rams to their third victory of the season. (This week - at Arizona, 3:25 pm/FOX)
Demar Dotson, Tampa Bay - started at right tackle in a 22-17 road loss at Cleveland. Dotson has started at right tackle in all six games this season for the Buccaneers. (This week - Atlanta, 12 noon/FOX)
Lamar Holmes, Atlanta - is on the injured reserve list and will miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury.
Tom Johnson, Minnesota - came off the bench to register a tackle, including a half sack for two yards and a quarterback hurry in a 29-26 home victory over Washington. Johnson has compiled 5.5 sacks this season. (This week - Idle)
Cordarro Law, San Diego - had four tackles, including one for loss, in a 37-0 loss on the road to Miami. It was his third games to see action this season for the Chargers and his tackle total was a season high. (This week - Idel)
Khyri Thornton, Green Bay -is on the injured reserve list and will miss the remainder of the season.
