HATTIESBURG, Miss. - On the heels of their first scrimmage of the season on Saturday, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles returned to the practice field under near perfect conditions on Monday at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
The more than two-hour practice session was another practice in pads for the Golden Eagles and the first for the staff after reviewing Saturday's scrimmage footage.
"Today was good - we got a lot of stuff corrected from Saturday," said head coach Ellis Johnson. "I thought it was a good practice. We cleaned up a lot of things, and it was basically review today"
Southern Miss will return to the practice field again on Wednesday for another live tackling session and Johnson said he will look put his team through more situations.
"It will be another tackling practice," Johnson added. "We'll get into some third down-and-short situations, some goal line (situations)."
The Golden Eagles will continue practicing up to their NCAA-mandated limit ahead of the April 14 Spring Game, a part of the Eagle Fest 2012 weekend - a celebration of the Black and Gold in Hattiesburg.
