Golden Eagle Softballers Set for Final Home Tournament

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss returns home to the Southern Miss Softball Complex to host their final tournament of the season when they welcome four teams to the Hub City for The Gold Pub and Grill Classic beginning Friday, Feb. 24 with a 5 p.m. tilt against Mississippi Valley State.
Along with the Delta Devils, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) will be in attendance.
The Golden Eagles will be looking to return to winning form after a close 3-2 loss on the road to Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday.
Led by Stephanie Shiflet and Taylor Brown, Southern Miss (2-3) is batting .270 as a team, fifth-best in Conference USA. Their .363 on-base percentage is fourth-best in the league while Shiflet's six stolen bases are second in the league behind four players with seven.
In the circle, the Golden Eagles will rely on a three pitcher rotation headlined by junior hurler Beth Dietrich. Dietrich (1-2) is third in among C-USA pitchers with a 2.88 ERA and has surrendered just seven earned runs to 13 strikeouts in her three appearances and a team-high 17 innings.
Following their Friday night game with MVSU, the Golden Eagles will have a pair of games on Saturday - IUPUI at 2 p.m. and Nicholls State at 7 p.m. - and a single games against Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Five games in all will be played on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. and four games on Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m.
Season tickets are still available for $60 for reserved chairback seats while general admission bleacher tickets run for $40. Single game tickets are also available for $8 for reserved chairback seats. General admission seats can be purchased for $6 for adults and $4 for youth, ages 3-17.
Tickets can be purchased before gameday online, at the Pat Ferlise Ticket Center or by calling the Southern Miss Ticket Office at 1-800-844-TICK (8425). Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.
