Golden Eagles Step Out of Conference Play
- Southern Miss plays its fi nal non-conference home game of the 2011 campaign when they entertain Southeastern Louisiana.
- The Golden Eagles have won fi ve straight home non-conference games and are 6-1 in those contests during the Fedora era. The only loss came against No. 15 Boise State 24-7 (10/11/08).
- Southern Miss is also 9-7 against non-conference foes in the Fedora era.
- Since the renovation of The Rock for the 1976 season, the Golden Eagles have posted a 125-44 (.740) record at home over that span.
- The Golden Eagles have won their last two home games.
- Under Fedora, the Golden Eagles are 5-0 against schools from the state of Louisiana including a 2-0 mark against both Tulane and Louisiana Tech, as well as a 1-0 mark over Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Southeastern Louisiana Series
- This will be the 22nd meeting between the two schools with the Golden Eagles holding an 18-3 advantage in the series (see page 5 of the game notes to see breakdown of the series).
- The Golden Eagles are 12-2 against the Lions in Hattiesburg.
- Southern Miss currently holds an 11-game winning streak dating back to 1955.
- There have been seven shutout victories for Southern Miss in the series, including the last time the two teams met in 2006 (45-0).
Notes from Marshall
- The Golden Eagles lost just their third Conference USA opener in 16 tries last Saturday in a loss at Marshall. It was the second time they have dropped a league opener to The Herd. It also was the fi rst loss at Huntington, W.Va., in four games.
- Senior QB Austin Davis threw for over 300 yards for the sixth time in his career while also passing Brett Favre (7,695/1987-90) as the school's all-time passing yards leader. In 33 career games, Davis has thrown for 7,931 yards.
- With two fi eld goals, senior PK Danny Hrapmann moved ahead of Brant Hanna (1998-2001) to fourth place on the career school charts for fi eld goals made with 34.
