HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Heading into their final nonconference home game of the season, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles worked out for just over two hours as dusk approached on Wednesday at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
Fourth-year coach Larry Fedora was enthused by his team's attitude as they worked toward finalizing the installation of their gameplan for Saturday's tilt with Southeastern Louisiana.
"It was good - we got some good work in," said Fedora. "The gameplan is probably 98 percent in and tomorrow it will be all about polishing up and showing we can execute it all."
The Golden Eagles (1-1) entertain the Lions (1-1) at 6 p.m. at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since Southern Miss registered a 45-0 victory over SLU during the 2006 season.
Saturday's matchup will be the "Hall of Fame Game," as eight former Golden Eagle stars will be inducted into the M-Club Hall of Fame including Angela Atterberry-Jackson, Darrin Chancellor, Keith Kennedy, Chris Logan, Todd Pinkston, Patrick Surtain, Adalius Thomas and Jerry Taylor.
Members of Southern Miss' two national championship teams in 1958 and 1962 have also been invited back to participate in their squad's induction into the Southern Miss Legends Club.
Tickets are still available by going online at SouthernMiss.com, or by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Center weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office, along with the Eagle Club Offices will also be open on Saturday from 10 a.m., until 2:30 p.m., at the Ferlise Center. The ticket operation will then move to Roberts Stadium beginning at 3 p.m., and will be open until halftime.
